It's easy to slip in (just rock it back and forth while pushing gently), and to remove a whole, undamaged cork, just twist and pull..
When I first got this I did have to wrap a rubber band around the prong cover to get enough grip to remove it, but that's probably due to arthritis. I also wiped down the prongs.
